Focus on Life Week 21 Reminisce

5/25/2013

This week we were prompted by Sally Russick of the Studio Sublime to Reminisce.
Reminisce - to recollect and tell of past experiences.

One thing I love about these prompts is you never know when the photo opportunity will strike. Generally this how it goes ... I ponder Sally's prompt and try to think of something I can photograph and then I am promptly stumped. How am I going to represent the prompt in a photo? Then I let it go. Surely I will find a photo to represent reminisce. The opportunity presented itself the other day as I was walking with my two dogs. Two young teenagers emerged from a driveaway and were walking slightly ahead of me. As I watched them I found myself reminiscing. ***bing, bing, bing***photo opportunity, I was so glad I had my phone on me.

I was watching this young couple. They were so cute. A mosquito was bothering her and he was determined to get it. He gently touched her waist and moved her from the of the middle of the road and guided her to toward the side of road, placing himself closer to the middle of the road. The knight in shining armor. And this is when the reminiscing began. Remember when you were young and free of life's responsibilities. There was plenty of time to hang out with your friends and spend time walking and chatting with your new love. Young love. My husband and I used to be those people. I met him when I was 18. We spent a lot of time hanging out with each other before we got married. Good times.

We still have good times. Life is just fuller now. There are days I long for more of those relaxed, easy going good times. I do my best to squeeze them when I can. It is appropriate that I spent some time reminiscing about young love since my husband and I celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary this week.

Oh Ema - congrats on your 24th Anniversary - that's awesome! And what a great shot of young love and just youth in general that you have captured here - really does take you back and make you reminisce, doesn't it?! Lovely post.

You are so right about our younger, more idle days. Love the way the trees arch over the couple to capture them in frame.

Ema, it's so perfect that you came upon this young couple, especially since it's your anniversary. I've been married to my high school sweetheart now for 32 years and I can say that I often long for the carefree days of our youth when times were much simpler. But then again, I wouldn't change a thing. Happy Anniversary!

Such a sweet thought, all inspired by two strangers walking down the road.
