Anklet Blog Hop Reveal

6/1/2013

My lovely friend Kashmira Patel of Sudafulee challenged her jewelry designing friends to create anklets. The only rule: create anklets with color. You can read up on the challenge by clicking on the image below.

Last summer I tried to create an anklet for my self using some of my lampwork beads. That didn't work out very well. Large beads and anklets just don't work, and by large I mean anything over 6 mm. Kashmira's challenge sparked my interest again and just in time for summer. I poked around the internet and found anklets that spoke to me and pinned a few that I loved to my Pinterest board. I don't think my creations reflect the width I saw in the anklets I was admiring but nonetheless it got my gears turning.

I have been working on a line of bracelets (to be revealed soon) that have layers to them and I wanted to carry that look over to the anklets, yet on a smaller scale. I believe I achieved the look I had in mind.
The first anklet is in a color palette that I am loving for this summer, Ocean Blues! The sterling silver bead in the center of the first photo is a big hole bead which slides over a little area of seed beads, anchored between two small Swarovski crystals.

The second anklet in Heavenly Blues. I might need one in this color scheme too.

All the anklets are made with two strands of seed beads which incorporate sliding sterling silver beads, sterling silver accent beads, Swarovski crystals and Miyuki seed beads as well as a strand of sterling silver chain.

The third anklet, Amethyst Delight.

The fourth anklet, Boho Browns.

A final group shot before they find their way to new homes and become someone's favorite summer accent.

The tough part...photographing an anklet on your own foot. But I think you really need to see it on someone's ankle in order to gain a perspective of the size of the beads and how they fall over the ankle. Since I am the only girl in my house you get to admire my boney ankle photo shoot. I've been wearing mine day and night for over a week now and it is very comfortable.

I really love these anklets, I've already claimed one for myself. If you love them too you can visit my Etsy shop to order your anklet which will be custom made in a size that fits you perfectly.

As always I thank you for visiting with me today. And don't forget to click on the links below to see what the other fabulous jewelry makers created.

I love that you found a style you liked and made multiple colors. I didn't have that idea until today so I'm about a 3rd of the way done with a second colorway of my favorite design.

Beautiful anklets. I really like how you did the multi-strands and still maintained the delicate nature of the anklets. Love that Boho brown one. I found that once I got started, it was just as easy to make four as it was to make one. Great job!

Thank you Jean. I agree once the first one was done it was a breeze to make the others in different colors. In fact if I didn't have to go pick my son up from school I think I would have 4 more. The ideas are a brewing now.

These are all so pretty, Ema! Love the fresh color choices for summer looks. The layered look is perfect for the anklets.

Thank you Lynda. I was hoping the layered look would translate well through the computer. These are not bulky or uncomfortable in any way. I always have to test drive my jewelry first. ;) I know it is a tough job but someone has to do it.

Great shots of your ankles, Ema... I circumvented by designing for the nieces (all males at home). The seed beads are a natural for these comfy anklets with just the right amount of bling!

They're all really pretty. And I love the layers to them. But my favorites are the amethyst one and the brown one. I'm just not a blue girl. But those colors I love.

Wow, you sure found some awesome inspiration there! That said...sometimes that kind of thickness only looks good on photoshopped models feet, and are comfortable only till the photo-shoot is going on ;-)

I love yours...delicate and luscious colors! I really like how the large hole beads slide over the seed beads. All of them are keepers :)

Thanks much for joining in the fun :)

I love your double stranded designs. The addition of the large holed cutwork beads looks great. I'm guessing that they move around as the wearer walks and add a bit more interest.
*Beautiful work*

Simply lovely anklets! Colorways and multi-layers are all so nice, and each anklet is very pretty! Thanks for modeling your anklet, too. Nice to see it on. I'm glad you kept one for yourself! Enjoy wearing your pretty anklet this summer, Emma :)
